What art, design, and photography group synchronically would be like?
Prince Gyasi took a bold, stylized picture of his iPhone life in his hometown of Accra. Occasionally using digital manipulation, he captures his themes in a colorful textured background and next to the ocean, corrugated steel houses, and sunsets - Gyasi's frame contains colorful contrasts between the subject's skin, clothes, and surroundings. Fruits, umbrellas, and important fashion statements provide an extra palette and insight into the Gyasi landscape and community; His tones are as rich as the life he depicts. With this aesthetic, artists challenge idealized beauty standards and traditional art photography practices. He has exhibited in cities such as Cape Town, Paris, Seattle, and Miami. Gyasi is also a co-founder of the nonprofit Boxing Kids Organization, which helps educate poor youth in Accra.
Gyasi turn his work into 'color therapy’
The 26-year-old Ghanaian visual artist digitally manipulates his photos to enhance or change colors, crossing a line between artistic styles, making it difficult for him to label them. Conflict, vibrant colors create fantastic worlds, everyday scenes in Gyasi's work, bringing another vision to Accra, his hometown.
