“Pregnant Robot” Not sure what today’s #DailyDigitalDrawing is about. What do you think?

Updated: Apr 22, 2022

We're getting back into a feminist issue with our preferable column - pregnancy art, are we? Feminist art is no longer a taboo in today's civilisation, and it continues to be hyped up by time - on revolutionary ideas get pushed in the act of the public. We, Artpendix, yet, are not a trend-tracker.

While women and kids are commonly portrayed in art history, pregnancy is a considerably more uncommon sight. Some point to the canons of classical art, which did not regard a woman's body producing a child as fitting in - while others point to the taboo surrounding the Virgin Mary's immaculate conception. With time, the subject made its way on pedestals and within frames, progressively lifting the shroud of misunderstanding and dispute around this natural phenomenon.

'Pregnant Robot,' a digital print artwork, marks only $31 for sale online.

Burton Gray - the artist, added a note - I'm not sure what the topic of today's # Daily Digital Art is. What do you make of it?

Yes, we've got something to push up for it! Pregnancy Art appears to be inextricably associated with feminist art. What if a man created a pregnancy art?

Women with children are a common topic for artists such as Johannes Vermeer, Albrecht Dürer, Rubens, Vincent Van Gogh, and Laurits Andersen Ring, with some getting inspiration from religion.

The Venus of Willendorf, approx. 28,000-25,000 BCE is possibly the oldest known work of art zero in on pregnancy. It's an oolitic limestone statue of a lady with exaggerated breasts and hips to beef up her fecundity. Many pregnant portraits were created in the 1400s, and 1500s, such as the renowned Arnolfini portrait by Jan Van Eyck dated 1434 or Raphael's La Donna Gravida - among them is Leonardo da Vinci - Mona Lisa. Though, the painting's condition is not visible and was found thanks to infrared scans and 3D mapping of the canvas.

Art, especially in modern practice, has approached pregnancy with rising boldness and flexibility since the early twentieth century. It was a highly personal topic for some artists; one was intimately tied to their own lives - while others just paid respect to women who bring new life into society or shared stories about tradition and being pregnant in countries. While revisited legendary works such as Annie Leibovitz's Demi Moore or Damien Hirst's The Virgin Mother dedicated to mothers in art, here we go futuristic in reviewing pregnancy in art, using a variety of mediums and approaches.

Whether 'Pregnant Robot' makes gender issues on pregnant women more eclectic? A Swedish woman has given birth to a baby to become the first pregnancy following a womb transplant performed by a robot. The anonymous woman did well after giving birth to her kid via scheduled caesarean surgery at 36 weeks. The baby weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces (2.9 kilograms) / 48 cm in length. Cillian O'Brien, a CTVNews.ca Writer, reported at 11:22 a.m. EDT on April 9, 2019.

Like old-time, futuristic history may leave a self-portrait for 'Pregnant Robot'.
