It may sound perplexing, primarily for performance art - being a 'good' student in art school. What if your project requires a 'bad' student to perform?
In a one-time exhibition, he is entitled "Art School Stole My Virginity," a London-based art student presented a performance of losing his anal virginity. The concept, which 19-year-old Clayton Pettet staged at a gallery in front of peers, has gained him worldwide recognition.
It appears that no one has brought up the fact that it is forbidden; his performance is not in one of the few locations in the globe where it is permitted to conduct a sex act in public, not even in a nightclub, a strip club, or any place with locked doors. How did he manage to perform at all without getting arrested? However, having sex in class doesn't seem to be a novel practice on News.
Clayton Pettet is a gay student who generated controversy when he declared he would lose his virginity in front of 100 people for the sake of art, which has selected a central London location for the contentious "exhibition." He stated that he hoped this "performance art project," which would be followed by a Q&A session, would challenge the concept of sexuality.
The performance's organizer, Clayton, who had been working on it for three years, claimed he and an unnamed partner would engage in protected sex before polling the crowd. He wrote on his blog: 'When all my peers at school were losing their virginity it was incredibly hard for me to ask why I was still a virgin and why it meant so much to the people all around me.'
'My piece isn't a statement as much as it is a question. The whole aspect of virginity was incredibly emotional for me and has been ever since.' Clayton notified his tutor about the initiative where he studied at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design but kept his parents in the dark. 'The key thing about performance art is that it should only be performed once, and this is the ultimate once-in-a-lifetime performance. I've held on to my virginity for 19 years, and I'm not throwing it away lightly,' he said.
'For my imagining in sex as an art form, I don't think this falls into that category. My issue is around is this the right expression of someone's bodily sexuality? As an art project in front of an audience, where is the love, respect and mutuality in that? Stunts like this cheapens our own sexual relationships.' - Clayton Pettet
'Clayton Pettet's piece is not part of his degree and has not been endorsed by Central Saint Martins,' stated Alex Schady, Programme Director of Fine Art at Central Saint Martins.
Clayton Pettet's first Performance became viral before it even happened, mostly because of the irresistibly sexy implications best captured by Perez Hilton: The headline reads, "19-Year-Old Art School Student Will Create Art Through Penetration Of His Virgin Butthole."
What occurred during the debut performance? What if there's no sex; would you find it more ridiculous? Not just art, which reflects all people and things that are intimately tied to people, but perhaps the essence of art is to stroll between 'good' and 'bad.'
Since everyone has equal virginity that every human being can lose only once in their lifetimes, we hope you defend your priceless virginity. Did Central Saint Martins really steal students' virginity? Have you lost your virginity at school? Would you rate Clayton Pettet as an excellent art student if you were a teacher or art educator?
